Alan S. Wisnewski, a devoted family man and respected craftsman, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Thompson, Pennsylvania. He was born on November 4, 1949, in Edwardsville, PA.

A graduate of Mackenzie High School in Detroit, Michigan, Alan furthered his education at Johnson Technical College in Scranton, PA. His professional life was as diverse as his interests. For many years, he was a self-employed farrier, lending his expertise to the care and maintenance of horseshoes with precision and care. Later, he worked for PennDOT for a decade until he retired, marking the end of a long and productive career.

Alan’s passions extended beyond his work. He was an avid horticulturist, finding joy and fulfillment in tending to gardens and plants. He also enjoyed painting and woodworking, pursuits that reflected his creative spirit and attention to detail.

He is survived by his beloved spouse of 49 years, Marian (Daum) Wisnewski, with whom he shared a life filled with love and mutual support. Together, they raised a wonderful family: children Suzanne & Kelly Strautz, Alan & Jessica Wisnewski, and Alicia & Robert Marder. Alan took great pride in his grandchildren, Benjamin and Brinkley, who were a source of immense joy and pride.

Alan is also remembered fondly by his sister, Theresa Harper, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Stanley Wisnewski, and by his brother-in-law, Joe Harper.
