Albert R. Barnes, 87 of Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, entered into rest on July 30, 2024.

He was the son of the late Raymond and Lillian Barnes.

After graduating from Susquehanna High School, he served two years in the Army. In 1958 he married JoAnn Merritt, his best friend for 62 years, who preceded him in death in 2021.

Albert was employed as a Grade Foreman in highway construction and a 65-year member of the Laborers International Union.

Surviving are three children Kathryn Barnes, Kelly Decker and Kyle Barnes; one sister Marian Slocum; three brothers Thomas, Fred and Raymond; and two grandchildren with their spouses David & Nichole Decker and Margaret & Ryan Fitt.

He was preceded in his death by his son Paul Barnes; and his siblings Herbert, Donald, Roger, Alvin, Henry, Clyde, John, Florence and Martha.

Albert was a man who could build, fix, and move anything. His language of love was making unusual treasurers out of flea market finds. He will be sadly missed by friends and family.

At Albert’s request there will be no funeral services.

A private interment will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.
