Alice Gilleran Of Starrucca, PA Alice Gilleran of Starrucca, PA and Largo, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2020 at Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility, Susquehanna, PA, where she had been a resident since November. Alice was born in Binghamton, NY on February 4, 1934 to the late Willard and Anna (Zudoffsky) Hobbs. Alice was a graduate of Thompson High School and was an active member of the Alumni Association for many years. Alice worked at various jobs during her lifetime, retiring from the position of Nutrition/Activities Coordinator at Turnpike Terrace in 1999, a position she held over 11 years. A gifted musician, Alice was the organist and soloist at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Starrucca for almost 50 years. In 1954, Alice married the love of her life and best friend Robert “Bob” Gilleran and their love story spanned nearly 60 years until his death in 2013. Together they raised their family and maintained their home, Meadowside Farm, on Little Ireland Road until moving to Florida in 2011. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and visiting the casinos with her friends. Alice loved everyone and there was always room for one more at her table. Her sense of humor, her keen memory and her deep love of family will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Family was very important to Alice. She loved family visits and always wanted you to “stay a little bit longer.” She is survived by her daughter Carol (John) Barnett, Berwick, PA and sons Robert (Rachael) Gilleran and James Gilleran, all of Starrucca, PA; grandchildren Kristin (Pete) Lents, Sara (Andy) Lawer, Ryan (Jess) Gilleran, Jonathan (Libby) Barnett and Meghan (Joe) Truskolaski; and great grandchildren Garrett and Cassidy Lents, Hadley Lawer, Rowan and Mae Gilleran and Ellie and Paige Truskolaski. She is also survived by her brother, Fred (Sandra) Hobbs, Salida, CO and Sylvia Slocum, Warner Robins, GA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Carlton Slocum of Warner Robins, GA. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
