He enlisted in World War II as an Army private and specialized in tanks. He proudly served his country for 2 years in Germany and Austria and had an honorable discharge.
He married Martha Sowden and had 3 children. He went on to work for Seabrook Farms in Camden N.J. and lived in Cherry Hill, NJ. To call home he had call letters on a CB radio “KMD0287” that his family would listen for. He moved back to Pleasantville and started commuting to Manhattan by train where he worked for AMSTAR and was in charge of the premiums and advertisements Domino Sugar. He left AMSTAR to work for A&W Root Beer with the same intent on packaging. He was also in charge of the holiday presentations. That is what he was all about – presentation. When relatives were asked for one word about him, the consensus was the word “Gold”. He only used Shiny Gold paper and ribbon to wrap objects. Packages may be small but the presentation was beautiful.
