Arthur N. Kopp Sr., 91, of Susquehanna, PA passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Art lived a long fulfilling life and was ready to meet the Lord.
Arthur was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Virginia Kopp; son Artie, son-in-law Gary Colwell Sr.; his parents; and his sisters, Gina and Vickie.
Art is survived by a sister, Lorie and brother, Ray; a daughter, Belinda; 4 grandchildren, Gary, Jason, Loren, and Chelsey; and 3 great grandchildren. As well as many other extended family members.
Art lived most of his life in Starrucca, PA. After high school he joined the Navy and traveled to many parts of the world on the USS Henley, during the Korean War. Later he worked with his dad at the Starrucca Garage selling Massey Harris farm equipment as well as Remington Chainsaws. As time passed, needs in the community changed, so the garage focused on automobile repair and inspections. After that Art became a rural mail carrier, and travelled the back roads around Starrucca, delivering letters and packages.
Art was also very civic minded. He took an active role in his church and community. He was mayor and a constable in Starrucca. And, in 2010 was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame for voting every November for 50 consecutive years.
Art was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed driving down country roads with his camera to take photos of new scenery. He enjoyed social gatherings; he loved a good meal with good conversation amongst friends and family.
Art will be interred at the Starrucca Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
