Betty J. Cavanaugh Of Susquehanna, PA       Betty Cavanaugh, 88 of Susquehanna, PA passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was predeceased by her husband George of 58 years in 2003; her parents Bruce and Theresa Munson; brother Tom, sons-in-law Raymond Ayres and John Stanek. Betty is survived by her children; sons Don, Larry, and Tim (companion Cindy); daughters Virginia Ayres, Kathy (Ozzie) Miller, and Sue Stanek (companion Rob); 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her special sister Juanita Simcox; sisters-in-law Coralee Cavanaugh and Rhoda Munson. Betty worked for the Barnes Kasson Hospital and SNF for over 50 years. Her years were spent as head of the dietary department and her last years at the hospital were fulfilled providing smiles, helping hands, and just an ear to listen to all of the residents in the activities department in SNF. Betty made it a point to make everyone’s day brighter by bring a constant presence. She fought her battle with cancer with all she had and never gave up. Her family was all so proud of her strength and love that she showed to them and everyone she met over the years. “Mom we will love you forever.” The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Sara Armetta, Dr. P. Patel and all the departments at the Barnes Kasson Hospital (Mom’s second home) for the kindness and care over the past few weeks. Also, thank you to Mary Pat and Helen, who were her hospice caretakers. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 4pm at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, with Pastor Gary Day officiating. Interment will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 2 to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the Barnes Kasson SNF Susquehanna, PA, towards chairs for the resident’s dining room.
