Carolina Marie Stein

August 29, 1929 — July 26, 2017

Carolina Dantini Stein Of Susquehanna, PA   A heart of gold stopped beating, two willing hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best….Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend Carolina, age 87 , of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2017. Carolina joined her husband, “Stosh”, and the rest of the heavenly Dantini and Stein families and friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children and their families who will revere her memory forever: Richard (Mary Beth)) Stein, Lancaster, PA; Phillip (Liese), Susquehanna, PA. and her beloved granddaughters, Jenny (Mathias) PhD, Amy and Ashley who were her pride and joy. Carolina cherished and loved her Dantini family. She is survived by her sisters Josephine Buell, Binghamton, NY, Julie Ann Dantini, Laurel Lake; PA and a brother Joseph (Donna) Dantini, Sayre, PA. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and her special godchild, Maureen. Carolina is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Walter “Stosh”, her sisters, Monica Gosnell, Mary McNamara, her brother Phillip Dantini, and siblings who died at young ages, Joseph, Patricia and Anna Maria. Carolina loved her family and friends deeply and was a true friend to all. She was kind, honest, caring, wise, thoughtful and loving. She never let a family member walk away without saying, "I love you." Carolina enjoyed life. Her home was always open to all. Holiday parties especially after midnight mass were well known along with her Sunday brunch with family and friends. She was an avid fan of all sports. Carolina was a willing participant in any pool with her nephew Dennis. The long struggle is over. An illness, Alzheimer’s, which we still know too little about, has run its course and our beloved Carolina has given her life over to God’s grace and the promise of eternal life. And although the disease affected much of her recent life, as we knew her, we can see glimmers of the new life in the beautiful life she lived and gave. She truly was, and remains today, "Sweet Caroline" to us all. Carolina’s family expresses gratitude to all the SNF staff of Barnes Kasson Hospital for their attentive and compassionate care over the past few years. Carolina was a devout Roman Catholic, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. At her request, there will be a Memorial Mass of the Resurrection, celebrated at St. John Church, 15 E. Church St., Susquehanna, Pa, on August 5 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the family plot at St. John’s Cemetery, Susquehanna, Pa. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association - Greater Pennsylvania Chapter 57 N. Franklin Street Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 or to Barnes Kasson Hospital SNF 2872 Turnpike St, Susquehanna, PA 18847
