Rooney - Cottrell,64, of Thompson, Pa. passed away on Tuesday December 18, 2012 at the Maryland University Medical Center in Baltimore, MD after an illness.She was born in Susquehanna, Pa. the daughter of the late Raymond Rinker & Jacqueline Penn. She was predeceased by her first husband Paul Rooney, Sr. in 1999.Carolyn is survived by her husband Earl Cottrell; daughters Lisa and Kevin Callender and Joanna and Bradley Soden; son Paul & Dawn Rooney, Jr.; stepson Earl Cottrell, Jr.; stepdaughter Aileen & William Shay; brother Homer and stepbrother Richard; sisters Rita, Fran, Connie, Rena, Elaine; stepsisters Kitty and Patty; grandchildren Aaron, Natashia, Kaitlin, Brandon, Lauren, Cole, Kaylee, Travis and step grandchildren Audree, Tosha, Cody and great grandson Matthew and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of the Thompson and Clinton Center Baptist Churches. Carolyn own and operated Rooney’s Ice Cream in Thompson and was formerly employed at Barnes Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna and Gentex in Carbondale. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook and was devoted to her family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 22 at 11am at the Thompson Baptist Church with Pastor Loren Winn officiating. Burial will be in the Thompson Cemetery in Thompson, Pa. The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, Pa. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
