Charles D. Gorton of Susquehanna, PA Charles unexpectedly passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021. He was predeceased by his father, William L. Gorton, and his mother, Marilyn Gorton. He is survived by his brother, Carl Gorton; his son, Derik M. Gorton; his daughter, Amber M. Gorton; as well as members of extended family. Despite his difficult life, Charles “Chuck” was a very loving, caring, and passionate father. He always expressed how proud he was of his kids. He was an absolute pleasure to be around and could make anyone laugh and smile. He was a big jokester and always had something smart to say. He was simply a one of a kind man. After he graduated from Susquehanna Community School District in 1994, he attended Ohio Diesel Tech and completed his training there to start his automotive career. As a mechanic for nearly 30 years, Chuck could fix any vehicle or piece of equipment imaginable. He always found the answer that nobody else could find. Chuck had a massive passion for drag racing, as he would build classic Mopars for the strip. He enjoyed fishing, recreational shooting, and fixing vehicles with his son. He taught his son most of his knowledge about cars, which Derik would use all his life. Chuck was his daughter Amber’s biggest fan at her horse shows and would even cry with pride when she won. Chuck had MANY cars over the course of his life, but one that stands out the most was his 440ci swapped, 1974 Plymouth Duster. His son is diligently working for that car’s return to the family, and it will hopefully make an appearance at Chuck’s Celebration of Life at a later date. He is dearly missed by many.
