Clare Stille Murphy Of Susquehanna, PA Clare S. Murphy, 87, of Susquehanna, Pa, died peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2020. She was born Clara Mary Stille in Drexel Hill, PA, on July 3, 1933. The daughter of the late Edward and Isobel (Sellen) Stille. She is predeceased by her husband Leonard P. Murphy, her brother John Stille and his son Robert, and her sister and brother-in-law Elsie & Carl Valentine. Clare is survived by her 8 children and their spouses, Daniel & Varanun Murphy, Lynne & Dr. Andrew Majka, Thomas & Mary Murphy, M. Susan & Donald Johnson, Maureen & Martin Klees, Frances & Donald Arthur, Ruth & Michael Zeck, and Kathleen & Jeff Antonucci. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a sister in law Phyllis Stille, nieces and a nephew. Clare graduated magna cum laude from West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School. She married Leonard P. Murphy of Susquehanna, PA on May 3, 1951 and was employed as a secretary for Piesecki Helicopter in Wharton, PA. until the couple moved to Prospect Street in Susquehanna in 1952 to raise their family. Clare volunteered as a cub scout den mother and assisted St. John’s Catholic School with developing a library filing system. She graduated from the Practical Nurse program at BOCES in Binghamton New York, passed her state boards for licensure in 1973, and worked as an LPN at Barnes Kasson Hospital from 1973 to 1992. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, good neighbor and friend. Due to the CoVid-19 Pandemic, there will not be a viewing. Services will be held privately by the family at a later date. Clare will be interred at St. John’s Cemetery in Susquehanna, Pa. Donations in her memory to Revolutionary Home Health and Hospice Care 1619 Main St., Olyphant, Pa. 18403 would be welcome and appreciated.
