Clifford DeNys, 89, of Deposit, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at his home.

He was predeceased by his daughter Julia Nadine DeNys in 1977; his mother & father, Erva & Joseph DeNys; brother Joseph Leo DeNys; special uncles, Clifford Pascoe (Meta) and Stanley (Margaret) Pascoe; and first wife Socha Jean Buchanan.

Clifford is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Carolyn DeNys; their children Paul (Laura), Diana, and George (Sarah); sister Elizabeth (Giuseppe Joseph) DiSalvo; grandchildren Lauren, Andrea, Gavin, Jackson, Nadine, Victoria, James, Juliana, and George; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law Martha Colgan; and many nieces and nephews.

Clifford was born and raised in Deposit, NY on his family’s farm. He served in the United States Army. Following his time in the service he had an extensive work history including Dew Dec Farms, Ed Hartz & Sons Plumbing & Heating (19 years), co-owner of Sherman & Folkey Insurance Agency (13 years) and DeNy’s Canoe Sales (35 years). Clifford was a dedicated community member and volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader (4 years), Deposit Little League Coach (4 years), delivered Broome County OFA Meals on Wheels (20 years), Deposit Theatre Building & Grounds Chairman (26 years) and Christ Episcopal Church Building & Grounds Chairman (17 years). He was a lifetime member of the Deposit Historical Society, Christ Episcopal Church, Deposit Community Theatre and American Legion Post 757. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

A Mass will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 1pm, at Christ Episcopal Church, 14 Monument St. Deposit, NY. At Clifford’s request there will be no visitation.

All are invited to join for a light lunch at the Christ Episcopal Church immediately following the Mass.

Interment in McClure Cemetery will be held at a later date.
