Dale A. VanPelt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected community member, passed away on October 9, 2025, at UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY, at the age of 81. Born on July 1, 1944, Dale spent his early years in Deposit, NY, where he later graduated from Deposit Central High School.
Dale dedicated much of his professional life to the Valley Offset Printing in Deposit, NY. After retiring, he continued to serve his community by working for the Village of Deposit’s highway department. His commitment to public service extended beyond his career as he was an active volunteer fireman for the Deposit Fire Department and a member of the First Aid Squad.
His community involvement didn’t stop there. Dale was a Mason and a proud member of the Deposit Masonic Lodge, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to fellowship and service. He also participated in humanitarian efforts, having traveled to Honduras twice with the "Shoe Strings" group. As a Rotarian and member of the Deposit Rotary, he contributed to various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of those around him. Furthermore, Dale was actively engaged with the DEEP committee in Deposit, a member of McCabe Hollow Hunting Club, and a participant in the Deposit Men's Club. With a heart for his community, he also volunteered regularly for the local Food Bank.
Dale was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in hunting and fishing. He particularly cherished the time spent with family and the camaraderie of friends from the Deposit Men's Club. He also cherished the time at the racetrack with Steven Deinhardt the son he never had.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hamlin VanPelt; his daughter, JoAdele Foster; grandchildren Lucas, Leah, and Honesty; great-grandchildren Jamison, Michelle, and Kelsie; and his sisters Darlene Warner and Debbie Stiffler and brother Donald VanPelt, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Bonker VanPelt; his father, Edward R. VanPelt; and his daughter, Sharon VanPelt Muller.
A visitation will be held on October 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, located at 78 2nd St, Deposit, NY 13754. Dale's spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
