David E. Parsons

Lt. Commander David Edward Parsons of New Milford, PA David E. Parsons, 88, of New Milford, PA formerly of Ewa Beach, Hawaii passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the GCMC in Scranton, PA. He was born on September 10, 1931 to John and Alta (Vosburg) Parsons in Dallas PA. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Ernest; and sister, Nancy Confer. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Geraldine (Hobart) Parsons; daughter, Patricia Parsons; sons, Daniel (Essie), and John (Nancy)Parsons; grandsons, Daniel Jr., Keoni, and Nakoa Parsons; four sisters, Marion Eckert, Sue Smith, Pamela Parsons, and Linda Ondish; and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Dallas Township High School, class of 1949. He attended Wilkes college and then won a Navy ROTC scholarship to the University of Idaho where he earned a BS degree in Forestry. He also earned a MS degree in Aerospace Systems Management from USC. He served in the US Navy as a Pilot for 21 years. During that time he traveled all over the world. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam war. After retiring from the Navy, he went to work for the Hawaii State Department of Transportation Harbors Division where he managed the harbors the next 27 years. After his retirement, he returned to his beloved Pennsylvania where he and his wife settled in the town of New Milford PA. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his cabin on Foxton Lake. He also was an avid sports fan and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. A funeral service will be held at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Avenue, in Susquehanna PA on Saturday March 14, 2020 at 11:00 am. with Reverend Robert Harris officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening March 13, 2020 from 5:00- 8:00pm.
