Denise Elaine Sherman, 67 passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Monday, August 14, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born to the late Maurice aka Spike and Charlotte (Perry) Covey on August 25, 1955.

Denise graduated from Deposit High School in 1973.  She married her beloved husband, Richard Sherman in 1974 and they lived together in Deposit, NY.  Denise was a bookkeeper and Manager at the Deposit Big M for over 30 years and finished her bookkeeping career at the Courier Printing Corporation.  She was an active member of the Maple Lane Assembly of God Church in Deposit, NY where she sang in the choir.  Denise was also the Treasurer for the Deposit Lions Club.  She also loved bird-watching, reading, and knitting/crocheting.  Her favorite moments were those spent with her family, especially her 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Denise joins in Heaven her parents, Maurice and Charlotte Covey, her sister Maureen Covey, her beloved Aunt Gretchen Bohrer, and her best friend and cousin, Sharon Jordan.

She goes on before her husband of nearly 49 years, Richard Sherman, sister Charlene (Richie) Erdmann, brother Ken (Eileen) Covey, son John (Kim) Sherman, daughter Bethany (Patrick) Justofin, grandchildren, Sam Sherman, Kaitlyn Brown, Emmalynne (William) White, Ellie Brown, Sejasity Sherman, Ayden Justofin, Lily Justofin, and great-grandchild Kendall Hoad, as well as her aunt Alice Thompson and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A viewing will be held at Maple Lane Assembly of God Church in Deposit, NY on Saturday, August 19th 2023 from 12 pm till 2pm with the funeral directly after.  Interment will directly follow the funeral service.

Arrangements:  Hennessey Funeral Home, 78 Second St. Deposit, NY.  Flowers may be sent to the funeral home – Denise’s favorite flowers were carnations.  She didn’t leave us, but rather went to watch over us fly on our own.
