Donald Raymond Murphy

Donald R. Murphy of Union Dale, PA Don Murphy, 84, passed away suddenly at his home in Union Dale on Monday, December 30, 2019. Don was born December 21, 1935 of the late Raymond and Marguerite (Patton) Murphy. Don was predeceased by his son-in-law Adrian Baldwin, a granddaughter Kristine Baldwin, a grandson-in-law John Frey and a sister-in-law Jan Murphy. On October 25, 1980 Don choose Louise Glover Brooker and her daughters Rhondra Baldwin (Ralph) Thompson, PA, Linda Bedford, Susquehanna, PA and Bonnie Holmes (Joe) to be his family, whom he is survived by.  Don is also survived by a brother Richard Murphy, Prompton, PA, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Don served in the Army and after the service he worked at Singer and Elk Mountain, and then started his own excavating business where he retired from. Don enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid Harley motorcycle rider, riding on Sundays around the country side.  Don was a great father to the three of us and he will be dearly missed by us. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020, at 12:00pm at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA. with Kathleen Ackley officiating. Interment will be in the Starrucca Cemetery, Starrucca, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00am to 12:00pm. We want to thank the Thompson Hose Company, Western Wayne and Cottage Ambulance crews for their dedication as volunteers to help us in the time of need. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Thompson Hose Company, Western Wayne or Cottage Ambulances.
