Dorothy Elizabeth Cornwell Taylor Of Deposit, NY Dorothy Elizabeth Cornwell Taylor (Betty), 96, of Deposit, died peacefully in her sleep at home in her favorite chair, on Monday, April 12, 2021. Her long-standing prayer was finally answered, and she was able to live independently at home, go to sleep here and wake up in Heaven in the arms of her Savior. She was predeceased by her parents Mabel Myrick Cornwell and Fred Cornwell and her husband Benjamin Taylor. She is survived by her loving family, Pastor Kathy Myrick, Deborah Stever, Julia Myrick Cutler (Benjamin) and their daughter Mia, Victoria Myrick Machado (Jorge) and their daughters Aurora and Gwendolyn, her good friend Jim Conklin, and many cousins including her cousin and neighbor Gregg Milk. Betty graduated from Deposit High School in 1942. After graduation she was hired by Courier Printing where she first learned the art of proofreading. This launched what would become her life-long career. After graduation from Ridley Lowell Business School, she went to work for Vail-Ballou Press, Inc. in Binghamton. She excelled as a proofreader and was promoted to head the proofreading department. In the early 1960’s she left the area and moved to south Florida to be near her aging parents. She worked for various printing companies in Florida and eventually met and married her husband. She and Ben were married only 11 years when her parents died and then a short time later, she also lost Ben. After retiring from corporate proofreading, she became an Editor/Proofreader for “Nature Photographer Magazine”. She worked for the magazine until age 92. In 2004, after 40 years in sunny West Palm Beach, Florida, she moved back to Deposit to be with her family here. An avid reader, the Deposit Free Library was her mainstay for entertainment. She was also a loyal fan of Tiger Woods and rarely missed his televised golf tournaments. Thanks to the intervention of a guardian angel, she miraculously survived the flood of 2006 and was able to have her home restored from the extensive flood damage. Betty will be remembered for her quick wit, her feisty, strong-willed nature, her love for chocolate and ice cream, and her indomitable spirit. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Laurel Hill Cemetery with Rev. Katherine Myrick, Pastor of the Maple Lane Assembly of God Church officiating.
