Edgar “Eddie” S. French Of Susquehanna, PA Edgar S. French, 76, of SR 171, Susquehanna, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at his home, after an illness. Edgar was predeceased by his parents Nelson and Helen French; brothers, Raymond French, Carl French, and Stewart French; and a sister Marion Klym. He was survived by his loving wife of 56 years Phyllis L. Burdick French; two sons and daughter-in-laws Michael E. and Joan French, and Mark E. and Aubrey French; one daughter and son-in-law Susan M. and Shawn Roy; one sister and brother-in-law Audrey and Harold Wheeler; one sister-in-law Easter French; five grandchildren John, Krystal, Tyler, Connor, and Brody. Eddie was a 1956 graduate of the Susquehanna Community High School, after graduation he served 4 years in the United States Navy in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In 1963 he opened and operated French’s Auto Inc. Eddie was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #794, American Legion Post #86, Canawacta Rod and Gun Club (where he served as a trustee), Susquehanna Royal Arch Chapter, and the Canawacta Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, scouting his property on his ATV, socializing and having breakfast at local restaurants, a good bet, playing poker, mowing his lawn, and a joke. He will be remember for his kindness and loyalty to family, friends and strangers alike and least we not forget that famous cigar. A memorial service will be held at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 11am with Pastor Fred Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, from 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Fire Department and the Sacred Heart Hospice.
