Edith Marie Neale Of Deposit, NY   Edith Marie Lovejoy Neale passed away peacefully on November 14, 2019 at Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal, NY.  She was 98½ years old. Edith was born on May 27, 1921 and grew up in northeastern Nebraska on a small farm adjacent to a Sioux Indian Reservation near the village of Center.  As a young woman she moved to Afton, NY to take care of her aging aunt, Minnie Lovejoy Ives.  During World War II Edith was a drill press operator in the Scintilla factory in Sidney, NY.  She married John Neale on July 31st, 1943 and they had three children together.  Edith and John lived and worked on their farm at the end of Neale Road in Stilesville, NY until 1969, at which point they moved to the village of Deposit. Edith loved to travel, especially to visit family and to go on road trips in their RV.  She and John traveled extensively in the US, including numerous cross-country road trips and flights to Hawaii.  She also loved to garden and was often seen in her flower and vegetable gardens or picking strawberries.  She was well-known for her breads, pies, preserves and huge Sunday dinners.  Edith held strong Christian beliefs and showed her faith through her giving heart and her compassion for those in need. Throughout her lifetime she was sympathetic towards Native Americans and supported their causes.  Edith always placed a high value on education and was a great supporter of the Deposit Educational Endowment Program.  During her lifetime, she established both a Valedictorian and a Salutatorian award for graduating high school students, given in her name. Edith was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, John Isaac Neale, her granddaughter, Sharon Monique Neale, her son-in-law, William Tiffany, and her grandson-in-law, Peter Newell.  Edith is survived by her three children:  Bernard (Ada) Neale of Malibu, CA, Marie Tiffany of Deposit, NY, and Dorothy (Gary) Ciccone of Lakeville, PA; six grandchildren:  Kimberlee Neale Schindler, Cherie Tiffany Rockwell (formerly Cherie Tiffany Newell), Shannon Tiffany Ruppel, Ryan Tiffany, Stacey Ciccone Lomauro, and Matthew Ciccone; and seven great-grandchildren:  Kelly, Coby, and Kimmy Newell; Weston, Paisley, and Grant Tiffany; and Franco Lomauro. On Monday, November 18, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, calling hours will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home, 78 Second St. Deposit, New York.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the West Branch Bible Baptist Church, 117 Front Street, Deposit.  Reverend Steven Logue, pastor of the church, will officiate the funeral service.  Interment will be after the service at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Deposit.
