Edward Arthur Luning, 77, of Endwell, NY passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Mercy House in Endicott, NY.

He was predeceased by his parents George & Rachael Luning and his brother Wesley Luning.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lorraine (Michaluk) Luning as well as many cousins.

After a 3 year courageous battle with small cell lung cancer he was called home to his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ed graduated from Maine-Endwell High School and began his career working at IBM, in Endicott, NY for 30 years. After retiring from IBM he went to work at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Town Square Mall in the golf department. He last job was at the Maine-Endwell Middle School Library. He enjoyed working with the 6 ^th though 8 ^th grade students. The kids always kept him guessing.

Ed had an outgoing personality and an amazing sense of humor.

He enjoyed many warm and sunny days playing golf with his best friends Tom, Joe, and Bob. In the winter months, their sport was bowling at Midway Lanes.

His home away from home was at his cottage at Deer Lake in Windsor, NY. Ed tried fishing on the lake and try he did but wasn’t very successful. At night, he could be seen looking up at the stars and enjoyed seeing the big dipper, shooting stars and any other treasures the sky held.

Ed served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.

The family would like to thank the nurses and case aids at Mercy House, the nurses at Broome Oncology, and Dr. John Perry at Endwell Family Physicians for their tender loving care.

Dr. Perry was Ed’s family doctor as well as a close friend for over 50 years. Ed would say he always left Dr. Perry’s office with a smile on his face. Well, maybe not always.

On Wednesday, December 28, 2022, calling hours will be from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Endwell Methodist Church at 3301 Watson Blvd. Endwell, NY followed by a church service with Rev. Mark Kimpland.

A military burial will be held in the spring at the McClure Cemetery, McClure, NY.
