Elizabeth Ann Sabatelli Of Thompson, Pa. Elizabeth Ann (Cannarella) Sabatelli, 75, of Thompson, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 surrounded by family at Barnes-Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna, PA. After a long battle with cancer Liz passed peacefully to be with her husband, Joseph Robert Sabatelli, who preceded her in death. Her parents, Fred and Mary Cannarella, also preceded Elizabeth in death. Elizabeth’s legacy begins with her three daughters: Debra and Joseph Stone; Diane Sabatelli and David Curtis; and Dori and Corey Spencer who learned the art of patience, humility, determination, and most importantly, strength from their mother. The joy in her day and the light in her eyes could best be seen when Liz was surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchild: Brion and Brandy Stone; Bridgette and Anthony McKennas; Brandon Stone; Joseph Curtis; and great-grandson, Parker Stone. Elizabeth is also survived by four siblings: Michael Stefanko; Al and Beverly Cannarella; Barbara and Jim Salitis; and Marie and Joe Moniak. She had many nieces and nephews of whom she was extremely proud. Liz also touched many lives in an extended family that included brothers and sisters in law and close friends. Born in Pittston, PA, daughter of the late Fred and Mary Cannarella, she was a member of St. John’s Church of Susquehanna, PA. She received her high school degree from Pittston Area High School. She worked several service-type jobs throughout her life. Perhaps one of her most beloved jobs was working in our school cafeteria. She enjoyed the relationships that she developed with her coworkers and especially the students. Liz enjoyed going to sporting events and cheering on her grandchildren. When her grandchildren graduated she continued her dedication to the local sports teams by attending many games and cheering for our athletes. Liz’s strength, compassion, and concern for others were second to none. She made sure she demonstrated to others how important it was to live life to the fullest and appreciate every opportunity given to you. Her husband was often overheard telling others that she was the “axle in the wheel of our family”. Patsy, as she was affectionately called by her siblings, held the belief that above all else, family was the most important thing in her life. Liz was not only giving and kind to her own family, but to all those she had the pleasure of meeting in life. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Patsy was the type of woman that always put the needs of family and friends above her own. She was loved and adored by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Avenue, Susquehanna, PA on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.
