Eugene (Gino) Joseph Testa, Sr. Of Susquehanna, PA It is with great sadness that Eugene (Gino) Joseph Testa, Sr., 90, a lifelong resident of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020. His wife, Maryann Elaine (Canini) Testa, preceded his death on October 12, 2018. Gino was born in Susquehanna on October 2, 1929. He is the son of the late Virgilio Testa and Elaine Testa. He is also predeceased by his brothers Hugo, Albert, Raymond and Ronald Testa. He is survived by his sisters, Laura (Testa) Liambese of West Virginia, and Emma (Testa) Hubal of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by his sons, Gene Testa and wife, Kim, Jerry Testa and wife Nancy Vanno, and Joseph Testa. He was also the loving grandfather to Kristina (Testa) Fischer and husband, Bret Fischer, Samantha (Testa) Martin, and husband, Uriah, and Zachary Testa and fiancé Madison Applebee. He was also blessed with great granddaughter, Presley Marie Fischer. He was a 1949 graduate of Laurel Hill Academy where he was a member of the Basketball team, a lifelong member of St. John’s Catholic Church and served our country during the Korean War as a radio operator. Gino married Maryann Canini on July 4, 1953 and began building their 65-year marriage life together, creating a loving home and raising three sons. In the early years he worked hard to ensure his sons received college educations, so they could pursue teaching and federal law enforcement careers. Gino spent most of his working life as a master tile setter known throughout the Pennsylvania and Upstate New York areas for his tile setting creativity and exceptional quality of work. He was a member of the Canawacta Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Post 86, Loyal Order of Moose No 794, and was proud to be one of the founding members of St. John’s Catholic Church Men’s Club. Gino lived a full life enjoying his many outdoor sports activities as an avid hunter, fisherman and playing golf with his many friends, sons and loving grandson, Zachary. The family would like to thank Dr. B. Patel, the nurses and staff at the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) for their compassion, care and loving support. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Avenue, Susquehanna, PA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 15th, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Susquehanna, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SNF Activities Fund, 2872 Turnpike St., Susquehanna PA 18847 or St. John’s Catholic Church.
