Evelyn (Evie) Eleanor Smith

Evelyn (Evie) Eleanor Smith Of Susquehanna, PA     Evelyn (Evie) E. Smith, 84, of Susquehanna, PA, entered into Glory on Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Barnes Kasson SNF, Susquehanna, PA.   She was predeceased by her parents Otto and Alvina Herzberg, her husband Frederic Smith, and 10 brothers Elmer, Reinholdt, Gordon, Harold, Oliver, Nobel, Erwin, Norman, Edwin and Clifford Herzberg; three sisters Mable Grochow, Adeline Peters, and Marcella Frank.   Evie is survived by her sons Kurt and Lesa Smith, Susquehanna, Pa., Erik and Ercilia Smith, Granite Shoals, Tx., Ross and Aaron Smith-Knight, Chatsworth, Ca., her grandchildren Nicole Domiano, Karlyn and Jerrin Martin, Michael  Pompa, David Vasquez, and Isaiah and Xavier Smith-Knight, a brother Arthur Herzberg, St. Paul, Mn., great grandchildren Daniel, Brianna, and Brandon Vasquez, Michael David Pompa, Dillan Domiano and Angeleah Martin; great-great grandchildren Isabella and Brenllee Vasquez. Having 11 brothers and 3 sisters there are many nieces and nephews.   Evie worked as a Nurse’s Aide in Binghamton, NY for Dr. Kane; following she worked at Barnes Kasson Home Health and 20 years at Barnes Kasson SNF in Susquehanna, until her retirement. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball, golf, cross-country skiing at Callender’s in Thompson and playing cards with her friends. She absolutely LOVED working in her garden. She attended the United Methodist Church of Susquehanna, PA. Evie will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.   The family would like to thank the staff at Barnes-Kasson SNF for the wonderful, kind, and caring attention Evie received during her final year and a half of life on God’s creation.   A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 29, at 3pm at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA, with Pastor Greg Distad officiating.   Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 3pm.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to True Friends Animal Welfare Center, 16332 SR 706 Montrose, PA 18801.
