Gale Warner Scofield Criddle

Gale passed peacefully at home after a three-year battle with cancer. When told by the doctor that she had stage 4 cancer of the liver and pancreas, she teared up and said, “I am sorry you had to come in here and tell me that.” Her first reaction was not for herself, but for the doctor. Her proudest moment was as a police officer in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when she did security for the Oak Ridge Boys and several other big acts in the city. The Oaks requested her for their security when they came to perform three times and even sang to her in the elevator. When she came back to New York, she worked at Brace Residential (jail) and supervised juvenile boys from New York City in a dormitory. She then went on to become an office-trained dental assistant and worked among other places at the Central Prison in Raleigh. Gale was cheerful in all weather and a splendid human being.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Criddle, son, Kurt Scofield, daughter, Racheal Thetford, brother, Lee Warner, sister, Barbara Davis, brother Gary Warner and their spouses. She was also survived by her stepchildren, Scott Criddle and Jennifer Chalfont. No funeral is planned. A graveside moment for family and friends will be held at the Balls Eddy Cemetery.
