Of Deposit, NY

Gary Gene Albrecht, born on July 4, 1949, to William and Kathleen Albrecht, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Gary often joked that July wasn’t just his birthday—it was his entire birthday month, a reflection of his playful spirit and love for celebration.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Keith Albrecht. Gary was a graduate of Maine Endwell High school and received a Math and Physics Degree from Emporia University in Kansas.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Kathi Albrecht, who he met while driving the neighborhood ice cream truck. They built a sweet life centered on family, laughter, and unwavering support. He leaves behind his children: Brad (Marcia) Albrecht, Danielle (Kurt) Vagts, and Glenn (Lottie) Albrecht. As well as Shane Fiumera who he thought of as their bonus son. He was a proud grandfather to Jacob, Aurora, Kalvin, Kannon, Lucy, Montana, and Garrison, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

He is also survived by his siblings: Jeff (Eva) Albrecht, Robert (Cathleen) Albrecht, Phillip Albrecht, Cheryl (Marc Henry), Marsha (Gerry Bakeman), Karen, Linda (John Nolan), and Connie (Vinnie Babino), special niece and nephew Dylan and Dakota Latham, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In his younger years, Gary found great joy in building things, working on intricate 3D puzzles, and embracing life on the farm. His home was a gathering place, often filled with family and friends enjoying large, memorable meals—lovingly prepared by Kathi. He liked to say he was “Italian by marriage,” proudly embracing the traditions and warmth that came with it.

Later in life, Gary treasured time with his children and grandchildren. Gary had a personality that left an impression—he loved a good argument on just about any topic and never shied away from a spirited debate. He was known for his remarkable patience, but those closest to him knew that when he bit his knuckle, it was a sure sign he meant business.

Above all, Gary will be remembered for his deep love of family, his sense of humor, and the steady presence he provided to those around him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, and the memories shared.
