Georganna Carson
Of Deposit, NY
Georganna Carson, 86 years old, passed away on September 21, 2024 at her home in Deposit. She was loved and well cared for by her daughter, Phoebe, son Peter and her “other daughter” Cindy. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Carson, her son George, her parents George and Anna Pavlov, and her brother, Edwin Pavlov.
She was born January 5, 1938 and spent her youth in Deposit. After graduation from Deposit Central High School, she married Robert Carson on August 3, 1957 and they moved to Wappingers Falls in Dutchess County to raise their family.
She is survived by Phoebe and Peter Carson – both of Deposit, and a daughter-in-law, Teresa Carson, of Houston, TX. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Greg (Missy) Carson, Andrew, Elizabeth, Grant, Bart (Jacquie), Jenny (Jay), Luke (Lacey), 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
In her youth, she participated in 4H activities and even won several Powder Puff races in high school. Georganna worked in the Wappingers Central School District for many years, as well as an accountant for both private companies and Marine Midland Bank. During this time, she was active in the community, serving as a Girl Scout Leader and as an active member of the East Fishkill Fire and Rescue Squad for more than a decade. After retirement and several years traveling around the country, she and Robert came back to Deposit to settle into “retirement”. She was a founder of the Deposit Foundation’s Friendship Meal; a member of the Village Planning Board and the Deposit Foundation for several years, and an active member of Christ Episcopal Church. She had many interests – quilting, gardening, travel, sunning on the beach and exploring down a road she had never been on. Her passion was ensuring that those around her had food to eat, were not in need, and she was ready to help anyone. She gave us a philosophy of service and kindness to follow, and never uttered the words “why me?” about any of her hardships. She was strong, smart, wise, kind, ready for mischief and had a smile for everyone.
The family would like to acknowledge the extraordinary care she received in these last months from Dr. Giannone, the UHS Deposit Care team, and especially HCR Home Care. They gave us more days with her than we would have had otherwise.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 3:15pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 14 Monument St. Deposit, NY.
The Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 1pm to 3pm at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 78 Second St. Deposit, NY.
