George Sherman, a beloved resident of Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Regional Hospital of Scranton, PA.

George is preceded in death by his wife, Karen "Becky" Sherman, with whom he shared 46 years of love and companionship. He joins his parents, Jane Mae Phelps, Harold Sherman, and stepfather Henry LaPear, as well as siblings James Sherman Sr. and Joyce Sherman, in eternal rest.

He is survived by his three children, Mark Sherman, Kelly (Charles) Whitney, and Leeann (Ken) Sherman-Morder, and his six cherished grandchildren, Jill Majeski, Brad Sherman (Alfa), Nicole Sherman, Riley Compton, Dylan Whitney, and Abigail MacWilliams. He is also survived by his sisters Marjorie Treible and Betty Phillips and many cherished nieces and nephews especially Paul Walker and James Sherman Jr.

George found immense joy in fishing, a passion he shared with his beloved grandchildren every summer during their vacations in Canada. Over 50 years of creating memories at Fourteen Islands with family and friends became a cornerstone of his life. His weekends were often spent cheering on his friends, brother, and nephews racing at PennCan Speedway or Five Mile Point.

Born and raised in Susquehanna, George dedicated himself to helping others in the community, whether it was mowing neighbors' lawns, lending a helping hand, or using his building skills on various projects. Together with Becky, he treasured the later years of their lives, creating lasting impressions on their family, especially the grandchildren.

Services to celebrate George's life will be held at the Brushville Baptist Church 4572 Brushville Rd, Susquehanna, on January 4, 2024 at 12pm followed by burial at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Brushville, Susquehanna County, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in George's honor to be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org. George Sherman's legacy will forever be remembered and cherished by those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
