Gerard E. Laude Of Susquehanna, PA Gerard E. Laude, 88, of Susquehanna, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. Gerard was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Queens, NY (Middle Village). During this time, he was a drummer in both a fife and drum corps and a drum and bugle corps. Always active in Boy Scouts, earning his Eagle Scout, he went on to be a Scout Master during his military service in Germany and Morocco, and for many years here in Susquehanna. Gerard enlisted in the US Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. Stationed in Germany, he often told of buying a motorcycle and traveling through Europe and North Africa. Morocco was a place he spoke of often, and his love of Opera and Classical music served him well as a disc jockey on local Armed Forces Radio. Awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, he was a very proud Veteran. He was able to participate in the Honor Flight and had a wonderful day in Washington, D.C. being honored for his service. Gerard has been retired for 30 years after a career as a mechanical draftsman. He worked as a job shopper at Singer Link and the “Blue Box” simulator, and Ingersoll Rand. Retirement provided more time for his beloved NY Mets and NY Giants, RVing across the Country and doing puzzles. Gerard is survived by his wife Ella Mae, who he met while stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. They wed in October 1, 1955. Their surviving children are Cathleen (David) Kunkler, Madeleine (Brian) Brooks, Caroline (Terry) Roseburgh, Mary (Bill) Iveson, and Karl (Sandy) Laude. A devoted grandfather, he is survived by Dan (Emily), Julia (Cas), Aaron, Elizabeth, Corey, Nick, Clarissa, Ella Rose, Victoria, Amanda, Alexandra and Erica. A great grandfather to Callie (Marc), Abigail, Trista and Kamila, and a great-great grandfather to Everleigh. Gerard was predeceased by his son Gerard Jr., and brothers Paul and Ken. A Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John’s Catholic Church in Susquehanna, PA on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 11:00 AM. The Family will receive friends at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave, Susquehanna, PA on Sunday August, 30, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Only 25 individuals will be allowed in the Funeral Home at one time and masks will be required for entry. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Honor Flight, P.O.
