The family of Gloria (Bruttomesso) Peterson of Sherman, PA announce with great sadness her passing on August 23,2019 at her daughter's home in Canandaigua, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Augusta Bruttomesso, brother Joseph Bruttomesso, and sister Mary Anne Junger. Gloria is survived by her beloved husband Richard of 73 years, her sister, Norma Reinfried, her beloved children, Richard (Carol) Peterson, Diane (Joseph) Faherty, Donna (Jeffrey) Strong, John Peterson (Pam Stiles) and Nancy (Jack) Caparro; 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews. After raising their children in Paramus, NJ, Rich and Gloria retired in Sherman, PA where they lived for over 30 years. Gloria was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She loved her family, friends, her Roman Catholic faith, cooking, baking, traveling, dining out and shopping. Gloria enjoyed hosting family gatherings, passing down her Italian heritage and Richard's Swedish heritage. She handmade thousands of ravioli using her family recipe making sure to continue the family tradition. Gloria was famous for her Irish Soda Bread and blueberry coffee cake. She was a devout Roman Catholic, and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America for over 30 years, where she was past president and served as regent. She was very active in her parish of St. Joseph's in Deposit, NY and the surrounding community. One of the highlights of Gloria's life with Richard, was traveling every fall to Richard's WWII Navy Reunion at a different location every year. Their USS Norman Scott family is much loved. Gloria was loved by many, as she was generous and compassionate to all. She will be greatly missed. Thank you to Ontario-Yates UR Medicine Homecare Hospice for their loving help. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church, 98 Second St. Deposit, NY. The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 9 to 11am. Interment will be held in the George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Home Hospice of your choice.
