Gordon “Sonny” Towner, 87, of Susquehanna, PA formerly of Homosassa, FL entered into rest on Monday, July 17, 2023.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Virginia Towner; his parents Howard & Faye Towner; sisters Gloria Lindsell and Bobbie Ann Glover; brothers Charles, Carl, Ronnie, and Donnie Towner; brother-in-law John Napolitano, brother and sister-in-law Louis & Elaine Napolitano; and daughter-in-law Renee Towner.

Gordon’s pride and joy were his family and being surrounded by them in his final days. He is survived by his daughters Theresa (Dale) Ralston, Lisa (William) Kuiper, Loretta Henry (Aaron Stallings); son Brian Scott Towner; grandchildren Tyler Fiske, Thomas Towner, Kelsey Ralston, and Dylan Henry; great grandchildren, Dawson Ford, Ella & Roslyn Fiske; brothers Fred (Shirley) Towner, Edward Towner; sisters Esther (Dennis) Perry, Joan Mary Polomcean, Linda Bedford, Connie (Stan) Tuz, Phyllis Slocum; brother-in-law James (Trudy) Napolitano; sister-in-laws Judith (Willard) Canfield and Nancy Napolitano; and several nieces and nephews.

Gordon was a veteran of the United States Army. Before retiring Gordon worked as a diesel mechanic for PennDot for many years but his real passion was playing guitar. Gordon was well known for being an amazing singer and guitarist for several country western bands throughout his life. He was happiest when playing alongside the drumming talents of his son Scott and daughter Lisa. He followed the likings of Chet Atkins and other country western musicians. Gordon’s sense of humor carried him on his most difficult days. He always had a joke to tell to put a smile on people’s faces and even told jokes till his dying day to comfort his family. He had a love for all animals including his special companion Angel.

As a family we would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt “thank you” to his kind and loving care giver who was also a dear friend, Katrina Raub.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11am at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 10am till 11am.

Interment will be held in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hallstead, PA.
