James “Jim” Ballard, 76, of Deposit, NY, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Deposit, NY.

He was predeceased by his parents Earl & Esther (Stoeckel) Ballard Sr.; brother Ronald Ballard Sr.; mother-in-law and father-in-law Fran & Jeanne Dailey; and sister-in-law Carol Dailey.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Kathy (Dailey) Ballard; son Michael (Jamie) Ballard and daughter Tina Ballard; beloved grandchildren Rachel (Joey), Alex (Morgan), Parker, Ryan; great granddaughter Amelia; brothers Robert (Sally), Chip (Bonnie), Chris (Sandy), sisters-in-laws Fran and Sally; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated from Whitney Point in 1967. After high school he joined the United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam. He and Kathy were married on June 7, 1969, and welcomed their 2 children. After his time in the Military, they moved back to Deposit NY, where he worked Celetex in Deposit, NY, and then worked for TDS Telephone Company in Deposit, NY, until his retirement in 2009. Jim was a member of the Deposit American Legion and former member of the Deposit Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 78 Second St. Deposit, NY, on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm with Military Honors to immediately follow.
