James Edward Bishop

Of Susquehanna, PA

James Edward Bishop, 58 of Susquehanna, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at home surrounded by his family and lifelong best friend.

He was born in Susquehanna, PA, on November 17, 1964 to the late Ann Shay; and was adopted by the late Joseph & Virginia Shay.

Jim’s childhood and teenage years revolved around sports. He was a pure athlete. Amazing at everything he played, he was a legend. Jim spent his young adult hood doing quarry work. As he got older, he became a PA state certified Wildlife Control Tech. In his free time, Jim spent countless hours on the golf course; his home away from home. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and hunting. But his true happy place was with his loved ones who truly made his world go round.

He is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Tina Monks; his four children Kevin Sylvester, Natasha Bishop, Kristy Welch, and Brooke Morrison; 11 grandchildren whom he adored more than anything in the world. He is also survived by his brothers Nate Shay, Joseph Halstead, and Steve Lovenduski; and sister Lisa Bibalo. He was also the greatest uncle to so many.

He will be missed by so many friends who have become family to him. Life and the golf course won’t ever be the same. He’ll see everyone on Hole 19.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 6pm at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm.
