Joan M. Snyder, 88, of Johnson City, NY, formerly from Oakland, PA passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Hilltop United Methodist Home.
She was born December 26, 1934, the daughter of the late Marian (Bailey) and Foster Snyder of Oakland, PA; her sister and brother-in-law Betty & Frederic Boerner of Oakland, PA.
Joan graduated from Oakland High School, Oakland, PA, and Ridley Business School, Binghamton, NY. She retired from General Electric Company, Johnson City, NY with over 39 years of service.
She was the loving and devoted Aunt to a niece, four nephews and their spouses; Jeri (Boerner) & Kenneth Stead, Binghamton, NY, Tracy Boerner ( Jennifer Bixby); Oakland, PA, Jon & Judy Boerner, Oakland, PA, Jeffery & Christine Boerner, West Windsor, NY and Robert & Tammie Boerner, Endicott, NY; seven great grand nieces and nephews and their families who she loved and adored; Kendal (Stead) Plume and Robert Haigh, W. Palm Beach, FL, Kyle Stead and Angela Hawley, Lake Placid, NY and their son Silas, Jeremy & Kristin Boerner, Oakland, PA and their sons Dalton and Colt, Jordan Boerner, Oakland, PA, Jamie & Anna Boerner, Binghamton, NY, Carissa (Boerner) & William Martin of Conklin, NY and their precious daughters Olivia and Elle, and Janelle (Boerner) & Dominic Caminiti, Binghamton, NY; Joan is also survived by several cousins and dear friends as she was known as “Aunt Joan” to many.
Joan was an active and dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 70 years. She joined Canawacta Chapter #5, Susquehanna, PA in October 1953 and upon its closing transferred to Gill Chapter #12, Hallstead, PA. She was Worthy Matron in both chapters, District Deputy Grand Matron #18, Grand Representative of New Hampshire, Fraternal Correspondent and served on many other Grand Chapter Committees. For several years she attended Grand Chapter Annually and also attended 9 General Grand Chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Joan was also a member of the United Methodist Church, Susquehanna, PA and attended the Boulevard Methodist Church, Binghamton, NY. She loved to travel and enjoy many cruises.

Funeral Service and Eastern Start Services will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 3pm at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 1 to 3pm.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1361 E. Main St. Susquehanna, PA, 18847.
