John J. Bronchella Of Susquehanna, PA John J. Bronchella, 87, of Susquehanna, died Monday, October 1, 2012 at home. His wife of 39 years, Helen Murphy Bronchella, preceded him in death in April 2011. Born in Forest City on December 4, 1924, he was the son of the late Michael T. Bronchella, Sr. and Theresa Cost Bronchella. He was a member of St. John’s Church, Susquehanna. He was a Korean War era veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of the American Legion and the Veteran of Foreign Wars. Prior to his retirement in 2007, he served 42 years as the director of veteran’s affairs for Susquehanna County. He was named a Forest City Distinguished Citizen and served on the planning commission and borough council in Forest City. He also served as Fire Chief in Forest City and was a cubmaster of Forest City Cub Scout Pack 92. After moving to Susquehanna, he served several terms on the borough council and several terms as mayor of Susquehanna. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. Surviving are a sister Mary and a brother Joseph, both of Forest City, several step-children and step –grandchildren, three nieces, and two nephews. He was also preceded in death by brothers, James, Albert, Michael, Louis, and William, and a sister, Ann Sterchak. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John’s Church, Susquehanna, on Friday, October 5, 2012, at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Viewing will be on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 6 to 9pm at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Men’s Club of St. John’s Church.
