John T. Deakin, 71, son of Doris (Harrison) and William C. Deakin (predeceased) of Susquehanna, PA, died June 29, 2024 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY after complications from lung cancer.  He was predeceased by his wife, Carole Goodall, and survived by his son John, Grandsons, Mason Deakin and Cooper Payne of Susquehanna; his sister, Joyce Neidlinger and her husband, Royce, Ft Lauderdale, FL and nieces Dianne St Amant, Virginia Beach, VA, her husband David and children Kayla Lowie, Natalie and Nathan Hackmann; Kirstie Hubly, Murfreesboro, TN and her husband Cameron, and children, Brianna and Brock;  Heidi Ramos, Stafford, VA and her husband Jose; sons, Logan and Mason;  brother, William Deakin (predeceased) and his wife Beth, Susquehanna PA and their children, William, Christina and children, Becky and Jack Hall (Flemington, NJ) Brett and Brandon of Susquehanna; sister Diane Medlar, husband David of Wentzville, MO,  and nephews, David, Rebecca and family of Wentzville, MO;  Michael and Erin and family of Churchville, NY  and Jeffery and Denise, North East, MD;  Linda Deakin (predeceased); Beatrice Eichenberg (predeceased), husband Terry, Susquehanna and their children, Paul Stuart, Binghamton, NY, Jeremy Stuart, MI, and Linda, Seattle, WA and their wives and significant others as well as many close cousins and friends.

John retired from Anitec (Ansco) which later became Kodak in Binghamton, NY.  He was a quiet soul who loved music and played his guitar in many local bands in Susquehanna. He loved his family and extended family dearly and enjoyed having them visit. John was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 86, Susquehanna PA and proudly held the American Flag in many Memorial Day Parades in Susquehanna. He will be missed.

Friends and family are invited to express their condolences to the family on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA from 10:00am to noon.
