John D. Giangrieco Of Hallstead, PA       John D. Giangrieco our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the age of 90. John was predeceased by his brother Mickey Giangrieco; sisters and brothers-in-law Angie (John) Conarton, Louise (Roland) Tessier, Jerry Hartmann, and his granddaughter, Rebecca Newman. He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean; sons and daughters-in-law, John A. and Ruth Giangrieco, Jim and Frida Giangrieco and William (Billy) Giangrieco; grandsons, Jason (Lisa) Giangrieco, Eric Giangrieco; granddaughter Beth (Nick) Stoud; great grandchildren, Shelby Newman and Ryan Giangrieco; brother-in-law Angelo (Bonnie) Tolomei; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Giangrieco and Shirley Hartmann; and many nieces and nephews. John graduated from the Hallstead High School where his life-long love of basketball began. He went on to serve his country in the Navy during World War II. He married Jean Tolomei in 1952 and they made their home in Hallstead, PA. John was a member of the St. Lawrence Church in Great Bend, PA. His passion for basketball led him to become a high school referee of the sport for over a 30 year span. John and Jean also enjoyed their time spend with family and friends at Cape Vincent, NY. Family gatherings were an important part of Dad’s life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the St. John’s Church in Susquehanna, PA, on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 11am, with Rev. David Cramer officiating. Interment will held in the St. John’s Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA. The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, from 10 to 11am.
