John A. Rice Of Bainbridge, NY John A. Rice, 88 of Bainbridge, NY passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford, NY. John was born in Stamford, CT on October 29, 1931 to the late Welcome & Minnie (Wilcox) Rice. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Barbara (Costello) Rice; son Timothy & Veronica Rice; daughter Sandy & Dan Reigles; brother Robert & Pamela Rice; sister-in-law Peg & Frank Zaczek; sister-in-law Nancy Costello; brothers-in-law Sam & Elma Costello, and Ed & Maida; grandchildren Sarah Rice, Cheriel Rice, Rachel (Rice) Chambers and Jeffrey Muncada; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John moved to Deposit, NY and where he was drafted to the service and served in the United States Army during the Korean War for 2 years. He was a purple heart recipient. In 1960 he met the love his life, Barb Costello who he married and had 2 children with. John worked at Scintilla/Bendix/Amphenol for 37 years until his retirement in 1995. He lived for 40 years in the family home he built before going in NYS Veterans home due to serious health issues that plagued him for several years. John loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, family and his dogs and cats. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions the family will be having a private memorial service. Interment will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Deposit, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New York State Veteran’s Home, 4207 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830.
