John “Fred” VanLuvender Of Deposit, NY Fred VanLuvender, 81 of Deposit, NY passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Fred was predeceased by his parents John & Marie VanLuvender; sister Nancy and granddaughter Jennifer. He was survived by his loving wife of 62 years Clara McCallum VanLuvender; two sons and daughters-in-law John & Laurie VanLuvender and Jim & Jennifer VanLuvender; two sisters Sylvia and Carol; grandchildren, John, Michael, Jamie, Elizabeth, Aimee, Kaitlyn, and James; great grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Alivia, Zachary, Grayson, Easton, Lillian, Benjamin, Parker, Liam, and Harrison; and great great grandchildren Kendall and one more on the way; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pall bearers will be John VanLuvender, Michael VanLuvender, Paul Zandt, Ben Stever, Brandon Macumber, James VanLuvender, and honorary bearer James Lang. Fred was born in Butler, NJ and graduated from Butler High School in 1958. After high school he married his high school sweetheart and started his own auto repair garage in Pompton Plains, NJ; then he moved to Deposit, NY in 1974 and bought S & S Auto Garage which he operated until his retirement. Fred’s hobby was restoring antique cars and attending car show flea markets. He was a member of the Deposit Fire Department, Deposit Men’s Club, Lions Club, Deposit Rotary, Deposit Historical Society, and several car clubs including the Road Runner Club, American Truck Historical Society, Antique Automobile Club of America, and Early Ford V-8 Club of America. For many years Fred ran the antique car show at the Deposit Lumberjack Festival. He also enjoyed his lake house and spending time with his loving family and friends who will dearly miss him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May, 28, 2021 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church in Deposit, NY. Interment will be held in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Deposit, NY. The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home 78 Second St. Deposit, NY on Thursday, May 27th from 4 to 7pm.
