John “Jack” William Zickler

Of Deposit, NY

John "Jack" William Zickler, born July 30, 1941, passed away on July 24, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of generosity, adventure, and love.

Jack was entrepreneurial and hardworking, with a generous heart, a great sense of humor, and an unwavering loyalty to family and friends. Above all, he was a devoted father who took immense pride in his children. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, earning numerous military honors, including the Bronze Star for Valor.

An adventurer at heart, Jack loved to travel and experience new places, yet he always held a special place in his heart for his hometown of Montgomery, New York, where lifelong friendships took root and endured for decades. In his later years, he found home on Melondy Hill near Deposit, New York, where he embraced the beauty of the Catskills and became known for hosting memorable gatherings filled with laughter, stories, and good company.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Kristin Melville, and son-in-law, TJ Melville; his son, Eric Zickler, and daughter-in-law, Holly Zickler; and his six grandchildren, whom he treasured and who were a big part of his life. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members, and dear friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Though Jack will be deeply missed, his family knows he would want the stories to be shared, the laughter to continue, and the party to go on.
