November 11, 1937 — May 7, 2019

Karl Crantz North Sanford, NY   Karl Crantz, of North Sanford, cherished husband of Dorothy Crantz, died peacefully in his sleep at the Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. He was born in Brooklyn on November 11, 1937, son of the late Karl L. and Johanna Crantz.  He was a graduate of McBurney High School in Manhattan, New York City. He was a longtime parishioner of North Sanford United Methodist Church, active in many capacities, notably as a Lay Speaker and a Lay Leader. Karl worked for various companies as a Tool and Die Maker.  His talents in this skill carried on after retirement in fixing model trains and numerous things around the house. A gentleman in every sense of the word, Karl was well known for his patience, kindness, great sense of humor, and ability to put others at ease. He was a devoted husband, uncle and friend. His greatest love was for his wife and his family. Karl's favorite pastime was spending time with his nieces and nephews, especially hiking and sharing his love of model trains. He loved almost anything dealing with history.  He cherished his German heritage and enjoyed German traditions with his family. Karl and Dorothy created a home full of love, laughter and tradition.  The ability to laugh in even the most trying times is the greatest gift he gave his siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.  He was a blessing to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Dorothy, his sister Margaret Karius and her husband George and their children; Matthew, Kenneth, Stephen, Danny, Adelyn. Ashley and Jessica and their families; and his brother Peter and his wife Mary Ann and their children Chris and Kevin and their families. A Memorial Service will be held on May 18, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at United Methodist Church on North Sanford Road. Memorial Contributions may be made to North Sanford United Methodist Church, Deposit Historical Society and Deposit State Theater.
