Larry J. Bender

  Larry J. Bender Of Susquehanna PA    Larry J. Bender 70, of Gibson Township, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Geisinger CMC-VNA Hospice, after an illness.   Larry was predeceased by his parents Claude and Cecilia (Killinger) Bender; two brothers, Joseph and Johnny; and two sisters Rose and Jeanette. He was survived by his loving wife of 30 years Ruthann Flyte Bender; three daughters Tracy Melhem, Tammy Siderias, and Tonya Snyder; one step-daughter Miranda Siegfried; four grandchildren Ilissa, Joshua, Sydney, and Qeron; two step grandchildren Grace and Steven; five brothers Claude, Richard, Roger, Bruce and Barry Bender; one sister Catherine Harty; and several nieces and nephews. Larry was retired from Ingersoll Rand and Flowserve in Phillipsburg NJ, where he worked for 35 years.  He loved his family and home and worked hard for what he had. Larry lived life to its fullest, spending much of his time in the outdoors in Susquehanna County. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog “Rosie Girl”. Larry’s grandchildren where the apple of his eye. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends, especially his wife Ruthann who will always keep him in her heart. Larry fought a brave and courageous battle with colon cancer. The immediate family would like to thank all of the family and friends for their assistance and thoughts and prayers throughout Larry’s illness. At Larry’s request there will be no funeral services. In Lieu of flowers and memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter (Clarkes Summit, PA) the VNA Hospice of Lackawanna County, the Sacred Heart Hospice of Montrose, PA, or a charity of one’s choice.
