Lena Doris IrwinOf Unadilla, NY  Lena Doris Irwin (nee Foster), 71 of Unadilla passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 surrounded by her family, after fighting a long battle with cancer.Lena was born in Masonville, NY on December 24th, 1945 to Ruth Foster. She proceeded to spend her youth growing up on her Grandfather’s farm in Masonville and graduated from Sidney High School. She later lived in Deposit, NY where she raised her family. During the summer, Lena could be found camping with her husband George. Together, they would spend the entirety of each summer picnicking, fishing, and sitting around the campfire with family and friends. Lena was also known for being a regular face at the Sidney park, where she walked her beloved dog Lucy everyday. During her walks, Lena would befriend anyone willing to converse. Though she enjoyed spending time outside, Lena’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Small in stature, what Lena lacked in height she made up for in heart and was always happy to lend an ear on the phone or host a family gathering. Lena is survived by her loving husband George W. Irwin of Unadilla, her four children Randy Brown of Newark Valley, John Brown and wife Kim of Deposit, Karen Brown of Lanesboro, PA, and Debbie Chirico and husband Joey of Sidney Center. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren Mike Burnett, Diamond Brown, Austen Lewis, Makenna Loucks, Trent Wagner, Bryce Chirico, Philomena Chirico, and her first great grandchild Caylee Burnett. Lena will also be remembered fondly by her aunt, Dawn, her two nieces Laura Berkovitz and Elizabeth Conorowski, and her sister Joyce Podhayski.    There will be a Memorial Service held on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at 1pm at the Masonville Federated Church State Route 206 Masonville, NY 13804.
