Martha Rose Stanford, age 82, of Susquehanna, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6th, at Barnes-Kasson Hospital.

She was predeceased by her parents, Carmello & Blanche Ficarro (Tolomei), her Siblings, Sal Ficarro & Angela Orner, and her grandson Matthew Stanford.

Martha, Marti as she was known by her friends, is survived by her three sons. Kenneth and Jolene Stanford, Darrin Stanford, and Ward Stanford; grandchildren Jasmine, Kenya, Sydney, Jack, Ava, and Isla. three great- grandchildren, Kai, Piper, and Lavender; her sister Grace Welch, sister-in-law Joan Ficarro, and many nieces and nephews, including Carmen Megivern and Bethany Maby, who spent many hours caring and keeping company with Martha over the years.

Martha was born in Susquehanna, Pa, on December 23rd 1943, and graduated from Laurel Hill Academy. Martha was a fixture in the community, working for several decades as the Secretary for the Tri-Boro Sewer Authority, was active at St. John’s Catholic Church, and spent several years as a member of the Susquehanna Community School District Board.

The family would like to thank Barnes-Kasson Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility for its care and empathy over the past several years.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
