Matthew W. Francis
Of New Milford, PA
Matthew W. Francis, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2026. Born on February 26, 1990, in Binghamton, NY, Matthew was the embodiment of kindness and devotion throughout his life.
Matthew graduated from Chenango Forks High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Broome County Community College. He dedicated his career as a truck driver for Tomra Recycling, where he was known not only for his skilled work but also for the warmth he brought to every interaction. His infectious personality and famous bad dad jokes endeared him to friends and colleagues alike.
Family was the cornerstone of Matthew's life. He is survived by his loving spouse, Sarah Francis, and their cherished daughter, Lily Francis. He was the proud son of William and Susan Francis, and a brother to Mark Koekebacker and his sister-in-law, Libby. He also leaves behind an extended family that includes his mother and father-in-law, Dave and Lisa Conroy; sisters-in-law, Emily Conroy and Heather & David Baldo; nieces and nephews, Landon Bennett, Rylan Baldo, and Ember Baldo; grandparents-in-law, Luana Goff, Ed Conroy, and Milton Woodruff.
Matthew was preceded in death by his brother, P.J. Koekebacker, and his beloved grandparents, Nancy and George Francis Sr., Matthew Meiczinger, Virginia Woodruff, uncle Ronald Francis. Though he has left this world, Matthew’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
He had a passion for the outdoors, which he expressed through hunting, riding his four-wheeler, and shooting. Above all, Matthew was proud of being a father and a family man. His commitment to his family and friends was unwavering, and he will be remembered for his gentle humor and the love he shared generously with everyone in his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
