Merle W. Newman

Merle W. Newman Great Bend Township, PA Heaven gained an Angel on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Merle W. Newman, 84 passed away due to a brief illness at Barnes Kasson SNF, in Susquehanna, PA. Merle was born on March 29, 1936 in Great Bend Township to the late Almond & Beatrice Newman. He was also predeceased by his brother Lynn and his niece Janice Newman. Merle is survived by his adopted family and care givers Donald R. & Marion Colwell; as well as Bridget, Shawn, Kory and Aaliyah Flynn; caregiver Lesley Rivenburg and friends. Merle grew up in Great Bend Township and graduated in 1954 from Blue Ridge High School. Merle graduated Valedictorian plus served as class president. After high school merle worked the family farm with his brother Lynn and also drove school bus for Blue Ridge School District. He enjoyed playing old songs, gospel music and Christmas music on his piano and keyboard. Merle will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. B. Patel and the staff at the Barnes Kasson SNF for the care they gave Merle. At Merle’s request there will be a private Funeral Service will be held at a later date.
