Naomi Ruth Getter
Of Susquehanna, PA
Naomi Ruth Getter, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Barnes Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. She was born on July 4, 1936, in Kirkwood, New York.
Naomi was a graduate of Oakland High School in Oakland, Pennsylvania, where she met her husband, Roger. She devoted her working years to caring for and supporting special needs children, first at Bell School in Kirkwood, New York, and later at the Susquehanna Community School District in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. Her work reflected the kindness, generosity, and loving nature that so many knew in her.
A member of the Susquehanna United Methodist Church, Naomi loved to sing in the church choir. She was also a beautiful artist, a gift that stood among her proud accomplishments. She treasured time spent on vacation with her sister Gail and Gail’s husband, and she will be remembered as a great mother, sister, and grandmother whose warmth touched those around her.
Naomi is survived by her son, Christopher Getter. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Annette; grandchildren Jennifer, Bryan, Shane, Ryan, Storm, and Ashley were an important and cherished part of her family. She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Troup and Gale Reddon; her brothers, Larry & Sandy Medlar and David Medlar; her special cousin, Ann Shoudy; and many nieces, nephew, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Getter; her parents, Frederick and Nellie Medlar; her grandson Corey; her brother, Philip Medlar, and his wife, Linda Medlar; her brothers-in-law, Gary Williams and Thomas Reddon; and her sister-in-law, Diane Medlar.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Susquehanna Christian Community Church, 1361 East Main Street, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania 18847. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church.
Interment and committal service will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.
Naomi will be remembered with love for her gentle spirit, her caring heart, her devotion to family, and the many lives she brightened through her faith, her work, and her presence.
