Paul W. Joines

Wyalusing, PA

Paul W. Joines, better known to many as “Pappy”, 72 y.o.  Residing in the Wyalusing area and formerly from Susquehanna County, died peacefully and surrounded by love, following a long battle of health conditions.

He was predeceased by his parents Edna Joines (Great Bend) and Tom Joines (Binghamton).  He was also predeceased by siblings Jerry Joines and Judy Mogridge.

Paul is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Joines (Scott Shelp), and Kelly Kuehn (Lee) by his first wife, Shirley Collins.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Travis Novakowski, Brett Shelp, Lucas Kuehn, and Abigail Shelp.

He is survived by his siblings Lynn (Linda) Joines, David (Heather) Joines, Penny (John) Wilber, and Barb Galloway.

He leaves behind his girlfriend Judy (Murphy), and her children and grandchildren.

Paul was a 51year member of the American Legion, Union Wyalusing Masonic Lodge no. 108, Towanda, PA, a veteran of the Army and served in Vietnam War, he was a man with dignity, etiquette, pride, humor and most of all love. He always had something useful and positive to share, and could make conversation with anyone at anytime, always knowing the right things to say.

He graduated from Blue Ridge High School and worked for many years at Proctor and Gamble. He was full of knowledge of so many things. From mechanics to carpentry, electrical to plumbing. He loved reading and learning about the world.  He was a talented mason and enjoyed building wooden tables and benches. He took great pride in his vehicles, tools, and belongings. He liked quality things and took his time figuring things out, although he drew the line at assembling IKEA products.  Paul had a love for all things water. He spent a good deal of time boating on Seneca Lake, loved the beach, and had the opportunity to live on a beautiful lake with great friends nearby.

Speaking of friends… he had many and he valued every single one of them.
He always saw the good in people and things. He was a voice of reason to many and could offer valuable advice, tell a joke, or a funny story.  Many of his stories included his grandkids.  He loved to hunt and fish and spent an abundance of quality time teaching them all about the outdoors, life, and how to untangle fishing line.  But most importantly making memories that will last a lifetime.

Paul’s love for his daughters and how proud he was of them was known to all.  He passed down his sense of humor and strong work ethic to both.  They had a long-standing joke about which daughter was the favorite.  He will be deeply missed by both.

The family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice and Robert Packer Hospital for all their help and support during this difficult time.  A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, or assisting a Veteran in need.
