Pearena (Galoni) Hubal, age 88 of Thompson, PA passed away on January 30, 2023 at Barnes Kasson Hospital surrounded by her family. Pearena was born June 17, 1934, daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Mary) Galoni in Carbondale, PA.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband George Hubal, her brother Joseph Galoni and her sister JoAnne Galoni.

She is survived by her children, George and Nina Hubal, Mary Ann Hubal, Lisa and Steve Winner and Carol Bartley.  Her Grandchildren Jason (Erin) Skarbez, Erik (Kara) Hines, Ashley (Brian) Supsic, Jessica (Nick Felter) Hubal, Alyssa Hubal, Sean Bartley and Kyle Bartley.   Her two great grandsons, Luke and Jack Skarbez.  Several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Pearena graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale, PA in 1952. She worked as a seamstress in Carbondale until she married George on June 16, 1956 and moved to Thompson, PA.

Pearena was an award-winning Avon Lady in Thompson for years, where she had over 50 customers.  She was a Girl Scout Leader in Thompson, a Susquehanna Community HS Marching Band Booster and Chaperon.  A member of the United Sportsmen’s Club in Jackson PA. An officer of St. Mary’s Cemetery in Thompson. A long-time member of the Thompson Fire Company, being one of the first people to get her EMT certificate for the first ambulance in Thompson.  A member of the Bag Ladies (My Brother’s Keeper Quilt Group).  She was a passionate crafter, sewer, and quilter.  She loved to polka, play cards and entertain.  She enjoyed watching her grandchildren any time she could and cooking for her family and friends.

The Hubal Family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Barnes Kasson SNF for all the care, compassion and love you have shown our mom and the support you have given her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 10am at St. Martin of Tours Church State Route 92, Jackson, PA.

Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Thompson, PA.

The family will receive friends at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 4 to 8pm.
