Phyllis grew up on the family farm in Thompson, PA. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Harford High School. Soon after she moved to White Plains and began working for AT&T. She worked for AT&T for 42 years when she retired from the company. While at the company she was a member of the AT&T Pioneers and maintained that membership after retirement. Phyllis was very civic minded and very much interested in her community affairs. She became an active Member of the White Plains Community Task Force that met monthly in Albany to discuss community concerns and issues. Phyllis was an avid reader and lover of history. she was interested in especially world history. She loved to travel- especially enjoying visiting historic places and landmarks and cities that would have historic museums and birthplaces of important people who influenced historical times. Her most enjoyable historical trip was to Vienna and Salzburg Austria- her niece, Dr. Christine Plonski Sezer took her along on the music tour in which Christine’s children’s choir performed with the Vienna Boys’ Choir and also the International Choir Festival in Salzburg. Phyllis was able to accompany Christine on various musical trips that were not only musical but historically interesting. Her brother Edward and sister-in-law Florence also took Phyllis on many wonderful trips of historical significance. Above all, Phyllis’s priority was her FAMILY! Family was MOST IMPORTANT to Phyllis- especially the annual family reunions held at the family farm. She always looked forward to seeing all the family- and of course the family so lovingly cherished all the time they spent with dearest Aunt Phyllis! Phyllis eagerly looked forward to spending all her holidays as well at the family home in Thompson -When she was living at the Willowbrook, she was brought home to - the family home for ALL the holidays. Christmas was her favorite - she so greatly enjoyed that! The family celebrated Phyllis’s birthday annually with a family gathering which always made her birthdays so SPECIAL for her. Phyllis NEVER forgot anyone’s birthday -always sent a card and gift; and EVERYONE in the family got a Christmas card and gift! She was EXTREMELY generous, kind, loving, caring and supporting, she was the Matriarch of the Plonski family and so-loved by the family and everyone who knew her and met her! Phyllis is survived by her niece Dr. Christine Plonski Sezer and husband Ilhan who cared for her when becoming ill and moving from White Plains to the family home in Thompson; then after almost 3 years she moved to the Willowbrook Place and her niece looked after her needs while she was at the Willowbrook for the past 5 and half years; she is also survived by sister-in law Florence Plonski (wife of Edward), many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
