Richard Guy Hibbard, 88, went to be with his lord and savior Saturday, September 16, 2023. He joins the love of his life: Betty Jane, who predeceased him. He leaves behind his loving family, five devoted daughters: Linda Kellett, Carrie Hornbeck, Brenda Hauber, Sandy Kane (Joel) and Sheryl Kosturock (Mark); ten grandchildren: Brandy Cerbone (Marc), Scott Hauber, Melissa Conway, Amanda Ciani (Michael), Jason Conway (Krassy), Seth Kane (Kate), David Kellett (Sarah), Brett Hauber, Trevor Kosturock and Ryan Hornbeck; seven great-grandchildren: Alex, Thomas, Sky, Johnny, Cooper, Aidan and Atlas, as well as three nieces Nancy, Pricilla, and Kim.
Richard was born in Deposit, NY, September 19, 1934, the son of Paul and Gladys Hibbard, predeceased by a sister, Pauline and a brother he adored, Lloyd Hibbard (Mary) and son-in-law, Thomas Hauber.
Richard graduated from Alfred State University, earning his Associates Degree in Business Management. Richard was a true lumberjack in every sense of the word, operating the family business with his father and brother, Paul Hibbard & Sons Lumber, in Stilesville, NY, which business supported multiple community members. After Lloyd's passing, Richard became an independent logger; retiring at 62, then delivered for Courier Printing until he turned 76 years old.
Richard was a Sergeant in the US Army, serving in the Reserves. Richard was a Trustee and member of the First Baptist Church, Deposit, NY.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman, long-time member of Beaver Meadow Hunting Club, Men's Club and McCabe Hollow. Richard's favorite past-times included hunting, fishing, many hours playing cards and dominos, watching the horses race and attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. Richard loved camaraderie and had many dear friends.

Richard guided his loved ones with strong values, always positive and supportive, offering words of encouragement.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Noon, at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 78 Second St. Deposit, NY.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Saturday, 23, 2023, from 10am till Noon.
Interment will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery, Stilesville, NY.
