Rita E. Baudendistel, 96, of Gulf Summit, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Mercy House of the Southern Tier in Endicott, NY.

She was predeceased by her parents John & Leah (Vandusen) Hanrahan; husband A. James Baudendistel; two grandsons Paul Spencer Jr. & Rich Stanton; sisters Viola Gaffney, Mary Martin, Catherine Fitzgibbon and Anna Bowie; brothers John, James, Edward, Robert, and Thomas Hanrahan.

Rita is survived by her children James Baudendistel, John Baudendistel (Carolyn), Mary Spencer (Paul), Catherine Falank (Sam), Ann Stanton, Mike Baudendistel (Linda), Thomas Baudendistel (Nancy); grandchildren Jeanne Ball (Chris), Frank Falank (Cheryl), John Baudendistel Jr., Thomas Baudendistel Jr., Stephanie Altschuh (Rich), Katy Fragola (JP), Colleen Baudendistel, and Kaitlyn Baudendistel; great grandchildren Danica, Gavin, and Hannah Ball, Adelaide, Paul, and Evelyn Falank, Aiden and Emmett Baudendistel, Rich, William, and Matthew Altschuh, and Marshall Fragola; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rita was born and raised in Gulf Summit, NY and was still currently living in the same house she was born in. She married her husband James in 1949 and they were married 55 years until James passed in 2004. Every Sunday she still hosted a dinner for her family. She loved animals, especially her pet dogs and cats and her collection of angels. Rita was an avid Yankees fan. She was a devoted member of the St. Joseph’s Church in Deposit, NY. Her entire life revolved around her family who loved her and will miss her dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Noon at St. Joseph’s Church, 98 Second St. Deposit, NY.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 10am till Noon.

Interment will directly follow in McClure Cemetery, McClure, NY.
